Upon entering the shimmering gate, Junktion was enveloped in pure, white light; blinding, yet somehow calming. He had to squint to see anything beyond the brightness. Then he noticed. Both of his eyes were closing, and there was no red hue to the right side of his vision.

"What's going on?"

His thoughts echoed into his surroundings. Junktion rubbed his paw to his previously metal eye to feel warm flesh on his face. Shocked, he inspected the other metal parts of his body to find them replaced by skin and bronzy fur. Junktion turned around and gave a tearful look to a blissfully wagging tail.

"Who...? How is this possible?"

The sound of his thoughts again resounded into the light. This time a voice replied.

"You've been restored to your true form."

The voice was omnipresent; no form, just sound.

"This is Light, isn't it? Paradise after death?"
Junktion spoke aimlessly to the surrounding white glow.

"Indeed."

He heard and the brightness faded away into a beautiful garden, unlike any garden ever seen on earth. Shade trees with thick branches covered in fragrant flowers and sparking streams winded though emerald fields of plushy grass.  He looked back to the gate, eager to see if his companion, Pft had entered into this place as well, but there was no sign of the button-eyed creature.

"So this is it." Junktion sighed and took a tender step into this fresh, new world. "Now I just wait. Wait for my master to one day come here and find me."

"Was your master human?" The voice asked.

"Is a human. He's not dead yet..." Junktion mumbled under his breath.

"Then I'm afraid your master won't be joining you here." Junktion's heart jumped into his throat at that comment.

"What?" The dog gasped, his heart wrenching at the thought of an eternity without his master.

"This is a place of rest for the beasts. Man has his own place. I am sorry." Junktion's expression grew sullen and his head fell low.

"Then this is no place of rest for me..." There was no reply from the voice until Junktion turned his head back to the gate and took one step toward it.

"Where are you going?"

"To wherever my master is." Junktion replied, darkness swelling in his voice.

"Your home is not there anymore. Nothing lies beyond the gate. I'm sorry you're so unhappy."

A long silence passed in the garden. Only the soft rustling of the breeze passing through  the trees could be heard. Seconds ticked by like hours with Junktion facing the gate; still as a statue and dark as a starless night.

"Please, just let him go. You can't leave." The voice broke the quietness. Junktion snarled and his eyes filled with rage.

"Watch me." And Junktion rushed at the gate, ripping up grass as he sprinted...
The fate of Junktion after the gate~ Poor dude....
